u9/u10 : 7v7 Game days

Coaches and Families,

Please review these important elements of our U9/U10 game days and programming. Parents of U9 families and newer U10 families may not understand why we play with modified rules:

1. There is NO intentional heading allowed
2. We DO NOT post scores for these age groups
3. The keeper cannot dropkick or punt the ball.
4. The field is marked with a "BuildOut'' Line. (Cones or disks may be used to identify the "BuildOut" Line)
  • Goal kicks opposition retreats behind build up line.
  • When keeper has ball in his/her hands the opposition as well should retreat to the buildout line. The keeper does retain the decision making ability to play the ball out before a complete retreat.
5. Field Dimensions: Length: 55-65 Yards | Width: 35-45 Yards
6. Maximum Goal Sizes: Height: 6.5 Feet | Width: 18.5 Feet

This information has been shared with our referee assignor. We recommend and encourage all U9/U10 coaches to engage in a pregame conversation to discuss the modified rules prior to each game

Please take a few minutes to watch this US Soccer video for the hows and whys we play by these rules for the LONG term development of our players. https://video.ussdcc.com/users/227808/48869/480p/video.mp4

Thank you.
