Sean graduated from Transylvania University in 1992 with a BA in Elementary Education. He was a three time NAIA All-American during his playing career, including First Team NAIA All American, Third Team NSCAA All American and Transylvania University Male Athlete of the Year in his senior year. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
After graduation Sean played for the Lowell Lusitanos (Blues), one of the most prestigious soccer clubs in the Northeast. In 1995 he captained the side to victories in the League Cup and Super Cup. Following his time with the Blues, he played professionally for the Cape Cod Crusaders, Worcester Wildfire and New Hampshire Phantoms.Sean retired from professional soccer at the age of thirty-five, having played in two USISL National Finals with the New Hampshire Phantoms. This level of play allowed him the opportunity to teach elementary school during the day, while training at night and playing matches on the weekends. He recently completed his twenty-ninth year of teaching elementary school in Northborough, Massachusetts.
In July 2011 Sean was hired as League Director of the fledgling New England Premiership. Under his guidance the NEP grew from 200 teams to 1675 teams in the spring of 2020. The success of the NEP led AS Roma to hire him as Administrator of their AS Roma USA Academy. Comprising twelve of the most successful clubs in the United States, he was responsible for organizing all portions of AS Roma's work with these partner clubs.
In May 2020, Sean stepped away from his role of League Director of the NEP. He founded The New England Club Soccer League (NECSL) to provide a more transparent and merit based league platform for clubs to nurture and develop their players and teams. The application process is clear, transparent and objective. The mission: Develop, Challenge and Compete in a supportive environment of forward thinking Club Directors while partnering with like minded organizations to provide a wide range of regional events for the players of New England to showcase their abilities.
